Someone was shaking Zaen's shoulder. He stirred.

Burnt Chocolates

It was just a normal day, really it was quite rare, as Dominic was walking to the apartment after going grocery shopping. Honestly, he was glad for the peace and quiet. It did worry him that Athena had kicked him out of the apartment for groceries. She always got the groceries do to the fact that she wanted them to eat just healthy food. It had him on guard … a lot. Upon getting to the door, he noticed a particular odor coming from behind the door.

F-Fire, he thought before shifting an arm to his sickle.

Taking great care, he cut the hinges off the door for it to fall through. After that was done, he noticed that smoke was coming from the kitchen. Not thinking about his own safety, Dominic ran straight into the kitchen. Only for him to realize that there was no fire, and that odor was mixed with burnt chocolate. The boy looked at the counter to realize that his partner was trying to make homemade chocolates. Raising an eyebrow, he looked at her.

“Do you have somebody you like?” he asked.

“No,” she answered a little too quickly. “Besides, if I was making this for somebody I liked, they would never eat it.”

“Ah, come on, Athena,” he began. “I'm sure whoever you are going to give these to will eat them.”

“No!” she said, quite louder than she wanted to say it. “He won't, Dominic!”

The boy really couldn't help seeing her upset like this, so he took the best course of action. Taking one of the already made burnt chocolates, he took a bite out of it. The chocolate broke with a snap. He chewed it for a little before swallowing. The girl just stared at her partner before he smiled and took the plate of chocolate.

“I'll be taking these,” he said.

“No!” she said.

“Why?” Dominic asked as he stared at her from the corner of his eye. “If your 'crush' isn't going to eat them, I will.”

Athena didn't say anything after that as he walked out of the room. Though, her face had turned slight red from the thought of Dominic eating her horrible, burnt tasting chocolates.
